SALIENT: Contemporary Artists at the Western Front
In 2017 twelve leading Australian artists visited the First World War battlefields of the Western Front, a century after the conflict that claimed so many lives. This exhibition brings together the works they created in response to the history and present-day reality of these sites in series of artworks that include paintings, drawings, photography and sculpture by Amanda Penrose Hart, Ian Marr, Harrie Fisher, Paul Ferman, Deidre Bean, Wendy Sharpe, Steve Lopes, Ross Laurie, Michelle Hiscock, Luke Sciberras, Idris Murphy and Euan MacLeod.
This exhibition reminds us that the echoes of the Great War generation have not died and that there is always worth in revisiting the places in which great deeds were done.
