The Anzac Memorial (Building) Act 1923 and Anzac Memorial (Building) By-laws 2021 protect the image of the Memorial.
Guidelines for use of images of the Anzac Memorial appear below.
The Trustees of the Anzac Memorial hold exclusive rights to the manufacture, printing, publishing, display and sale of the image of the Anzac Memorial in any form. The Trustees may charge fees for any permission they grant for use of the image of the Anzac Memorial.
Photography
Any photography whether personal or commercial should not interfere with Memorial’s programs and/or the quiet reflection of other visitors.
Personal Photography
Visitors may take photographs for their own personal use in public areas of the Anzac Memorial. No specific approval is required. Please note, only handheld cameras are permitted on and within the Memorial building and we request that no flash photography is used inside the building.
The use of drones are not permitted at any time.
The use of tripods within the heritage areas of the Memorial building is discouraged, please ask a staff member for permission, if approved, rubber footings are to be used.
Commercial Photography
Photography by a professional photographer or film crews resulting in financial or commercial benefit by the applicant or any other party, requires prior approval. Please complete the application form.
Please note, wedding, entertainment or fashion photography is not permitted.
News and Editorial Photography
No permission is required for use of the image of the Anzac Memorial in ‘news of the day’ photography by accredited news-media organisations or their authorised representatives in external areas of the Memorial; or for editorial use in publications unless the publication relates solely to the Anzac Memorial.
Permission is required for access within the Memorial building.
Please note that the Memorial does not provide exclusive access during operational hours.
Media outlets or their authorised representatives seeking access to the Memorial outside normal operating hours, or access to non-public areas, should complete the application form.
Social Media
Any applications to film for social media on any platform within the Anzac Memorial building must be made in writing. Please complete the application form.
Filming, Photography and Use of Drones in Hyde Park

Other Uses of the Image of the Anzac Memorial
Use of the image of the Anzac Memorial for any other purpose not addressed above requires prior approval. Please complete the application form. For access to existing images of the Memorial and/or collection please email manager@anzacmemorial.nsw.gov.au
Definitions
Photography means still and/or motion recording of the visual image of the Anzac Memorial by any means and in any medium, and includes the images made and the activities related to their making.
Professional Photographer is a person who on any basis trades as a photographer or seeks to derive a financial or other benefit by selling photographic products and/or services.
Anzac Memorial Precinct refers to the Memorial building, northern forecourt, southern forecourt, pool of reflection, the cascading water feature and connecting pathway. The Anzac Memorial is a heritage protected property and of significant importance to the people of NSW.
Application process
- The Anzac Memorial inbox is monitored Monday to Friday 9:00AM – 5:00PM.
- Allow 5 business days for processing.
- Be aware that a fee may be required. All fees are payable in advance of the scheduled photography shoot.
