Albert 'Tibby' Cotter

Albert ‘Tibby’ Cotter was an acclaimed Australian fast bowler who grew up in Glebe. In the 1904 test Cotter bowled six Englishmen for 40 runs. 10 years later he joined the 12th NSW Light Horse Regiment. He saw action in Gallipoli while on temporary posting to the 1st Light Horse. Rejoining the 12th he took part in the great light horse charge at Beersheba in October 1917. Cotter, a mounted stretcher bearer, was killed in the final stages of the battle.
